"Profiles of Pacific Women"

paying tribute to those that pave the way for gender equality

Who are your tireless volunteers to end violence against women? You are invited to write a profile on this person who has tirelessly volunteered as an individual or work through an organization to end violence against women. Candidates must have a long held proven commitment to gender equality and the rights of women through her work to end violence against women, and must have been active in the 1980’s to date.

Selected profiles will be included in a UNIFEM publication, “Profiles of Pacific Women” to be launched on International Women’s Day, 8 March, 2005. It is hoped that there will be at least 2 women profiled from each Pacific Island Country.

In preparing the profile, please include the following details:

  1. Your name:

  3. Name of person you are profiling:
  4. Nationality of person you are profiling:
  5. Date of birth, (or approximate) of person you are profiling:
  6. Short biography of person you are profiling, e.g. village/town person grew up in, schools attended, known relatives including children
  7. How did this person contribute to efforts to end violence against women in your country, in the region? (300-400 words)
  8. Please include any images of the nominated person (if required photos can be returned)
