Love should be the reason for any marriage. It is a shame that there are people who will judge couples because they are different in color and culture. If you are brought up properly there will never be that problem. I do believe that for a marriage to work you do have to have things in common. Religion is very important. I am a Christian and God and Christ are first in my life and so very important to me. I do believe a couple has to have the same religious belief to truly make a marriage work. As to culture, it is wonderful to mix two different cultures together in a marriage. Life is beautiful and has so much to offer. A marriage can and will work if the couple loves each other deeply regardless if they are opposite races. I firmly know and believe that. Even age doesn't matter if there is true love.
The Bible states these two phrases: And now abideth faith, hope, love and the greatest of these is love. (Corinthians 13:13) God gives us richly all things to enjoy. (Timothy 6:17) Love is the most important thing, love conquers all things. God gives us so many different and beautiful things in life to enjoy and that also applies to the different cultures and colors of peoples skin, etc. If we are not ignorant and open our hearts to God's beauty then that is sad. I am white but I think skin of color is beautiful. It is all in how you are brought up, a good family, strong beliefs in God and Christ, and love in your heart. It is unfortunate that this world isn't a perfect place but if you love somebody then that is the most important thing. Remember the wedding vow phrases: For better, for worse....... You will run into hard times from people's ignorance and hatred of something different but if you love that person (husband or wife, girlfriend or boyfriend) then that is all that should matter.
