The Tusi Paia "clearly" states that MANY things are abominations and sins, including
1) wearing any type of blended fabric (for example, the polyester-cotton material in polynesian-style shirts), and
2) eating shellfish (for example, shrimp, crab, and lobster, which compose an ample proportion of Samoa's GDP).
So based on a literal review of the Good Book, I guess all Samoans are going to hell come Judgment Day.
The problem with that argument, as most people with any level of intellectual development know, is that the Bible isn't meant to be read literally. Otherwise, we'd all be burning lambs and goats in our front yards. After all, the Bible "clearly" states that such sacrificial offering to God is necessary and good.
If my son were to grow up and discover he was gay, I admit I would be somewhat selfishly disappointed that I might not have grandchildren. However, whatever God intends for my son is what shall happen.
As far as "the old fashioned way" of Samoan living, would you prefer we go back to cannabalism too? That would about as old fashioned as it could get.
