You can go ahead and pay allegiance. Sure Tonga may have been settled first, but the seeds of Polynesian culture which is the heart of our everyday lives today was born in Samoa. They don't call Samoa - Cradle of Polynesia for nothing. Before that, our ancestors were a different culture altogether, it is culture which separated them from their Southeast Asian kin.
