Heck this is all so fascinating and mysterious! the origins of the Polynesians and who our ancestors were.
The histories of other past societies and civilisations are more well known and heard of- that of ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Persian, Inca etc..Alot more is known, alot more findings and information is available for the public to read about these much older past societies.
Although I too have an interest in these societies, I think alot of us tend to overlook what is in our own back yard. Our own past, our origins.. eventhough I read of different theories and views I still find that whole lot of it ( the origins of the Polynesians)is still shrouded in mystery. The Polynesians are the last ( and youngest) race on earth to conquer new lands. But it seems our ancient ancestors have not left much material remains behind- and I find that so mysterious and intriguing!.I know of Lapita sherds being found around various places such as in Tonga, Samoa,etc..and of the headless skeleton remains that were found in Vanuatu last year-Was that the first time ever that any remains of the Lapita people were found?..
I am interested in Polynesian origins.Man I think we need more polynesian anthropologists/ archaeologists to help shed some more light on our past .Hopefully there will be heaps of polynesians interested in the field in the future!.
