It appears that Barnes and Noble only sell Volume II of this two volume study of Samoa, its people and its culture. Volume II covers all aspects of day to day life in Samoa including subjects such as fishing, agriculture, medicine, tattooing and adornment. Every chapter of the book is appened by substantial footnotes and references to other works. Written about 100 years ago, this modern translation from the original German is an wonderful exploration of Samoan life and culture at the end of the 19th century, and much of what is documented still holds true to this day.
