Saturday 21st February - Fiji - Nadi

The deserted island that was our destinationWe went on Captain Cook Tours trip to a coral atoll. We were very lucky because Fred had arranged for a friend of his who works for Australian Fisheries Protection to come along with us. Mike Ferris is a dive instructor and knows his way around a reef very well. He spent alot of time with us explaining about the corals and fish we encountered whilst snorkelling, as well as making Lucy feel very comfortable in the deep water in which we ended up. We also took part in a kayak race but came a resounding last because we spent all our time going round in circles. Do not put someone with one arm stronger than the other in the back of a kayak, they tend to act like a broken rudder.

In the evening a friend of Lucys from the UK who happened to be in Fiji came to visit, bringing along another friend Lucy hasn’t seen for 4 years. We stayed at the Mocambo and ate there. I had snapper cooked in coconut milk which cost about $14.50.
