MV SILI ON ROUTE TO SAMOA

The MV Sili which can hold up to approximately 52,000 gallons of fuel, powered by a 1700 horse powered engine, with cruising speeds of 10-12 knots. It is certified to carry 149 passengers.MV Sili, the ship that will provide passenger and cargo service between the Manu'a Islands and the main island of Tutuila, is now in the Panama Canal and at the port of Cristobal Colon. MV Sili departed the waterways of Houma, Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday, June 8th for the six day trip to the port of Cristobal Colon, which is on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal. Master Captain Wallace P. Thompson and his crew of nine arrived in Cristobol on Monday, June 14th. The Captain, reporting via maritime communications received through the Department of Port Administration, says "all is well onboard and if weather conditions are favorable, the MV Sili will arrive in American Samoa on Monday, July 12th, just in time for the Manu'a Centennial celebrations."
